BAE Systems solution to a joint USAF and US Navy requirements for an advanced modular Integrated Helmet Mounted Night Vision System. Although the I-Nights did not progress beyond a trials programme this solution laid the foundation for BAE Systems future integrated HMD development. Variants were tested in many platforms including Tornado, F-16, Lynx, BK-117 and C-130. I-Nights HMD used for PAH-1/AVT trials in Germany.
This is a complete HMD and is a product of the early 90’s. The I-Nights HMD gave a 24 hour capability with a twin optical path from CRTs giving a binocular field of view. In day mode cursive symbology could be displayed and in night mode a raster display from built-in night vision cameras could have symbology overlaid. Alternatively a video display from a FLIR or LLTV pod could be displayed together with overlaid symbology.
The only ID marking is "Serial No. 032".
