The Control Indicator Data Set (CIDS) and the Control Monitor were designed at Basildon for the Nimrod AEW Auto Management Radio And Intercom Management System, AMRICS.
The CIDS controlled the Collins supplied Link11 Data network modem.
The Control/Monitor managed a dual redundant Comms Management processor and entered stud (channel) number parameters such modulation, frequency and squelch level for hf, vhf and uhf Comms radios.
These items never made it into service.

It is not known why the Units were found at Rochester nor why the label shows manufacture by 'Elliott Brothers (London) Ltd'. The Elliott name was still a registered trading company but equipment was not marked with that name after the late 60s.
