Elliott/Bodenseewerk

The Tornado was developed and built by Panavia Aircraft GmbH, a tri-national consortium consisting of British Aerospace (previously British Aircraft Corporation), MBB of West Germany, and Aeritalia of Italy. It first flew on 14 August 1974 and was introduced into service in 1979–1980. The systems were also work shared and the Command Stability Augmentation System (CSAS) was one such where Marconi-Elliott Avionics (previously Elliotts) were the prime contractor with an associate of the German Bodenseewerk

In 1968 Fluggerätewerk Bodensee GmbH  was renamed Bodenseewerk Gerätetechnik GmbH (BGT). In 1989, the Diehl Group from Nuremberg , an international family-owned technology company, acquired 80% of the BGT shares.
