The Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE)
Serving Industry and Society
Founded in 1871, the IEE is the largest professional engineering society in Europe and has a worldwide membership of over 130,000.
Its interests span all aspects of electrical, electronic and manufacturing engineering, from satellite communications to biomedics and from education to management.
Its members range from students to the most distinguished and highly qualified members of the profession.
The Institution is an international organisation. It has Centres in the UK and throughout the world to serve the needs of its members.
As the qualifying body for professional electrical, electronic and manufacturing engineers, the Institution accredits both degree courses at Universities and training schemes in industry. It also acts as the voice of the profession in matters of public concern.
Worldwide, the Institution holds over 1,000 meetings and 100 conferences annually. It is also a major publisher and produces 25 journals and around 20 new books each year as well as a range of distance learning video and computer based training courses.
