These static air pressure sensing instruments were made for Elliott Bros by Munro to carry out gain switching for the autostabilisers on the early Lightning as a function of altitude. They were incorporated in the Mk13 Computer Unit. They also incorporated an Elliott AC pick-off to give the height lock signal for ILS conflict approach.
The photos of the internal mechanism show:
(1) the aneroid capsule that operates the lever mechanism;
(2) the AC pick-off transducer that generates a height-related analogue output &
(3) the switch arm and contacts.
