Notes:

Ferranti single axis accelerometers are force-feedback pendulous devices capable of sensing a wide range of acceleration with extreme accuracy. They are high grade instruments and are available for inertial and non-inertial applications. In a typical system of 1974 the Ferranti inertial sensor selected for Ariane was supplied as a 2-box system for ease or installation within the vehicle. The first box contained the inertial platform and the second box the system electronics. The inertial platform consists of a central instrument cluster isolated from the vehicle angular motions by gimbals. The instrument cluster consists of three single-axis gyroscopes and three single-axis accelerometers. Vehicle accelerations are measured by the three accelerometers along three mutually perpendicular space-fixed axes. Using these accelerations, a digital computer calculates the instantaneous vehicle velocity and position and generates the steering demands necessary to achieve the required orbit.
Its seven terminals are stamped 1 - 7.
