The Carpenter Relay is a high speed relay requiring low power to operate. The design stems back to before WWII and this one was manufactured by The Telephone Manufacturing Company to R.E.H. Carpenters Patents. The relay can be bistable in operation and in that mode will retain its state even if unpowered. Operating power in some designs can be less than 1mW and it can switch in around 1msecond. This unit came from the original Elliott Collection and was used in the Lightning Autothrottle Amplifier.

Rectangular metal case with an insulated base having 9 electrical connector pins.
