This is a piece of test gear to align the display of a Helmet Mounted optical system. The device has a camera at the base viewing the display via the mirror at the top so that it is measuring the alignment from the eye position. Accurate optical alignment to the helmet is vital and in turn the helmet must be stable and secure on the head, and finally the Head Tracker will measure the alignment of the helmet assuming that the pilot’s point of gaze is determined such that the display is accurately aligned to the outside world.
