This is a rare Gunsight used on a Bofors 40 mm L/60Anti-Aircraft Gun The reflector sight was a feature of later models of the gun. The trainer and layer were both provided with reflector sights for aiming, while a third crew-member standing behind them "adjusted" for lead using a simple mechanical computer. Power for the sights was supplied from a 6V battery.
The gun crew had several methods to sight the weapon on the target. Each gun platoon (four guns) had an M5 Director, connected by cables to the guns and all fed by a common generator. In this configuration the platoon could engage a single target simultaneously. However in combat the crews preferred to use the Bofors speed-ring Sights.
