An Aneroid Barometer calibrated in ins Hg and Feet as an Altimeter.There is no makers name. The instrument has a gold casing. and a protective hard leather case. It probably dates from around 1900 t0 1909. The Pocket barometer has a 1¾” silvered and struck twin-scale dial, the outer altitude scale with a range from 0–10,000ft, the inner calibrated in inches of mercury with a range from 21–31, the upper portion marked with standard meteorological wording "Rain," "Change" and "Fair," and "Compensated," the lower portion would normally show the maker's name but in this instance is blank. The instrument is very similar to those made by "Negretti & Zambra, London". The instrument has a fine blued steel pointer set beneath a bevelled glass maintained within a rotating bezel with associated altitude scale.
