Powerplant Systems Division
The system was exhibited at the Farnborough Air Show in 1984 by GEC Avionics and developed further by Powerplant Systems Division at Rochester. Three prototypes were made each contained in a box measuring nominally 9in x 4.5in x 2in; the production version was intended to measure only 6inx 4in x 1in. This box contains the aerials, arranged to view the tyre at an angle which avoids "reflections". The box also houses the microwave section, together with environmental and internal temperature sensing equipment. A main processor unit is mounted in the fuselage.
