The Marconi TICM (Thermal Imaging Common Module) II thermal imaging system was used on the Phoenix UAV in the Turret which had a special Pilkington zoom lens fitted. The TICM II equipment came from Marconi Avionics at Basildon but the main contractor for the Phoenix was the Rochester site and system integration and testing was done there. A Special to type test equipment (S.T.T.E.) was used to test four modules from TICM_II.

The Box is very simple and has a large number of sockets on the front to allow patching of functions and a significant array of switches for function selection. There are sockets for connections to an Oscilloscope, Counter and a Digital Voltmeter. An external Power Supply was needed to give plus and minus 12V.
