The following work is intended for Engineering Students preparing for National Certificate and Intermediate B.Sc. Examinations, and to supplement the usual text-books of Mathematics. For such students the saving of time is essential and some years of experience have shown that a volume containing the essential formulae and theorems of the syllabus, together with outlines of proofs and some applications of the subject, is of value in this way, both in the normal course of work and in revision.
In the cases of simpler formulae and theorems only a suggestion of the method of proof has been given, but the proofs of those branches of the subject which normally present the most difficulty have been given more fully. If two methods of proof are materially the same a reference only is given to the second. Worked illustrative examples are included where they are necessary as in “Methods of Integration,” “Solution of Quadratic Equations,” and elsewhere.
