GEC AVIONICS Automatic Test Equipment Division Introduction This album illustrates the Automatic Test Equipment Division of GEC Avionics Ltd., at Rochester in England. The company is a leader amongst the world’s avionic suppliers; the division is the largest centre of ATE expertise in Europe. The 71000 square feet (6600 square metres) of floor space within ATE Division is mainly occupied by the Production and Engineering Departments whose activities and facilities are shown on the following pages. The division has the capability to design, develop, manufacture and support ATE hardware and software for an extensive range of applications - from simple hand held test sets for car electronics to the most comprehensive automatic test equipments for ‘boxes’ from the world’s advanced technology aircraft. The Production and Engineering Departments are supported by others which do not feature in this book but which none the less play an important part in the success of the division, whose average annual turnover has been £22m per annum during the last 5 years. Quality Assurance, Contracts, Cost and Budget, Sales and Administration, whilst together only employing 10% of the total work force, still contribute essential back-up to the rest of ATE Division.
