Sony Trans Com

Sony Trans Com Inc. was formed in California in 1989. The company made in-flight entertainment systems. In 1990, Sony Trans Com Inc. of Irvine and two Hughes Aircraft Co. affiliates teamed up to produce sophisticated in-flight entertainment and communications systems for passenger aircraft. 

In 2000, Rockwell International Corp. acquired Sony Corp.'s Trans Com unit in Irvine to increase its airborne communications and entertainment offerings.
