Elliott/Bendix/SFENA Consortium Design

Concorde was designed in the mid 60’s and the consortium responsible for the Concorde Automatic Flight Control System (AFCS) was headed by Elliott Brothers (London) Ltd, and comprises the Societe Francaise d'Equipment pour la Navigation Ae'rienne (SFENA), and the Eclipse-Pioneer Division of the Bendix Corporation. The AFCS was based on the expertise gained with the system on the VC10 but was substantially smaller.

Elliott and Sfena supplied development units, simulator and flight sets of the AFCS for the preproduction aircraft. Bendix, which participated in the prototype development, was not involved in the pre-production or production phases.
