Sharps Freeman

Sharps Freeman were located at Tovil Green, Maidstone. The company made ties and corporate uniforms in Walsall, but orders, selling and distribution were handled in Maidstone. Around 30 staff worked in Sharp House, with a further 200 in the Walsall factory (this site closed in April 2001).

Sharps Freeman had been supplying the corporate security sector for over 20 years, but with managing director Martin Sharp set for retirement in 2001 the business was acquired by Prima who already had a 33% market share, with 65% of its corporate business generated in the security sector. Sharps Freeman was integrated as part of Prima’s existing London Docklands-based operation and the Maidstone operation closed in 2002.
