Notes:

In the pre-war days the German airline Lufthansa flying Heinkel He 111 and Junkers Ju 52 aircraft with covert reconnaissance cameras flew over Rochester Airport on their way to Croydon Airport to take pictures of the Short Bros Factory.

The black shading denoting the airport work buildings (B) show the original 40' hangar (1934), plus the factory, offices and erecting shop (1938), and the Pobjoy factory, but not the later addition to the 40' hangar (1939/1940).
Note that the black line boundary around the airfield (A) includes the initial construction work of the Davis Estate.
