NotesThe large Hangar traditionally had the Company name painted on the East face and 'Elliott Automation' was one of the names that lasted longest from about 1957 to 1967. There is a photograph dated 1967 in the RAA document 'The Hangars at Rochester Airport' showing that company name. GEC took over in autumn 1968, and a new holding company called GEC-Elliott Automation included the Rochester site in its portfolio.[1] Therefore this photograph's date is circa 1968. In 1969, the company name was changed to Marconi-Elliott Avionic Systems Ltd.[2] The 40' Hangars are so-called by a measure of the height of the eaves above ground level.
